Join us for a free 6-week after-school rowing program this spring for New Haven Public High School students.
The Row Haven program allows individuals with prior rowing experience to enhance their skills, while newcomers will receive an introductory rowing track as part of the program.
The program starts on April 21st, and ends on June 3rd and runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Row Haven is led by experienced rowing coaches who want to help you feel more comfortable and confident on the water while having fun.

Requirements: Participants must provide a swim test certification.
Sail Haven Boat Maintenance Work Session
Many of our boats need work to get them ready for the Sailing Season.
We will be doing the following tasks:
No experience necessary. We will have projects all laid out and experienced folks to lead you through them. Come and learn something new! We will be working inside the heated boathouse.

Enjoy a full body, low impact workout that builds aerobic endurance and muscular strength. Your class, on Concept2 RowErgs, will be a challenging combination of resistance training, rowing, and stretching.
*Each session can be scaled for individual fitness levels
*Please bring a personal water bottle
*RSVP is required AND must be received 4hrs before the start of class in order to guarantee a RowErg.

HOW TO ENTER THE BOATHOUSE:
Please use the door on the upriver side of the building closest to the water (and closest to Il Gabbiano's). Please do not come and go from the front doors of the building.
What is in the Harbor Seminar Series, hosted by Sail Haven, University of New Haven, Sound School, and the Milford NOAA Lab.
Monthly discussions of what lives in our Harbor, lead by professionals in their field. Fish, shellfish, algae (seaweeds), history, mammals, plankton, zooplankton, invertebrates, ....
10am - 11:30am Saturday, May 10th. This Seminar will Feature John Buell of Sound School/New Haven Harbor Foundation. John has taught history and civics at the Sound School for 30+ years. He will be speaking about the history of the New Haven Harbor: Commercial, Oysters, Revolutionary War, and Other historical uses of the harbor.
This course covers safety, rigging, sail trim, and steering.
*Please note: if you’re unable to make the first lesson in a course you will be rescheduled into another course.
*Note: the Saturday, 06/07/25 class will take place on Sunday, 06/08/25 because of the Dragon Boat Regatta.
New Haven Community Boating extends a warm invitation to teams/gyms/individuals to take part in the 2025 Dragon Boat Regatta. Set to take over the waters of the New Haven Harbor, this annual event brings families, friends, and communities together to enjoy food, sport, and entertainment.
Cultural activities will entertain families throughout the day, music will hype up the crowds, and food will be offered from local food trucks. The highlight of the event: Dragon Boat Racing!

Join the excitement of the 8th Annual Dragon Boat Regatta as an individual paddler! Perfect for those who want to experience the thrill of dragon boat racing without organizing a full team. Individual paddlers must be at least 16 years old to participate.

You don't need any experience! Dragon boating is for everyone. Our professional coaches will teach you everything you need to know during your team's practice session the week before the event.
This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, develop teamwork skills, and participate in a 2,000-year-old tradition while supporting the Boathouse's community boating programs.

In Beginner II you’ll learn how to sail with a mix of classroom and on-the-water instruction building on skills learned in Beginner I with the goal of your becoming a confident skipper. Skills include capsize recovery, docking and rigging.

We're opening our doors for a free day of fun on New Haven Harbor. Come try rowing in the morning and sailing in the afternoon!
Morning Rowing Fun: 9am - noon
Try rowing a boat, paddling a kayak, or joining others in a dragon boat! Never done it before? No problem! We'll show you how it works, both on land and water. Kids need to be at least 9 years old to join in and must be accompanied by an adult.
Afternoon Sailing Adventure: 1pm - 4pm
Want to go sailing? Our friendly volunteers will take you out for a sail around the harbor. Kids 5 and older can sail with their parents.
What to Bring:
Quick Tip: If you're coming for rowing in the morning, wear clothes that aren't too loose or baggy - they can get caught in the equipment.
Everything else you need will be right here. Just show up ready to have fun on the water!
*Note: there will be no class on 07/05/2025 in observance of July 4th weekend.
