Ready to go Sailing

• Tune rig for the conditions. See page on DF-95 tuning.
• Make sure batteries are charged.
• Make sure stern plug is inserted. (very important!!)
• Tape control hatch with electrical tape. Start with aft side of the hatch and work forward (sides next and forward edge last).
• Tighten backstay to your mark.
• Turn on transmitter.
• Turn on receiver (on the boat).
• Launch boat and go sailing!

After Sailing

• Turn off receiver (on boat).
• Turn off transmitter (controller).
• Rinse boat with fresh water. Salt water is very corrosive, especially to metal parts.
• Drain boat
• Release backstay to release rig tension, but not so much that rig falls out of the boat!
• Open control hatch so interior can dry.
• Even later:
• Recharge batteries  to be ready for the next opportunity to sail!
• once at home, I will ease the sheets too.

DF-95 Boat Assembly

We found the manufacture's instruction to be good. Here are a couple of hints help the process go faster:

• The instructions call out a length of the spectra line for each particular rigging function. Follow their length suggestions. They always specify a piece longer than needed. you can trim them later. 
• There are three different rigging sections: Jib, main and sheets. Before each section I would go through the section and make a list of the lengths required. 
• I would then mark up the line with a sharpie for all the desired  lengths. 
• Then super glue the marked area to be cut.
• Once the glue dries, make all the cuts.
• Don't worry about what kind of knots, any knot works and you are going to drop glue on the knot anyway.
• I found Needle Nose Pliers and/or Bent Tip Tweezers very helpful for tying the knots.

Extra assembly not in the manufacture instructions:

• With a needle, run a small piece of line through the stern plug and tie it to the backstay hook. Then your stern plug can never go missing!!
• Drill a 1/16" hole in the forward right corner of the hatch cover. About 1/4" to 1/2" from the front and side of the cover. Tie a line with a stopper knot at one end inside the cover, place a drop of glue, or caulk on the hole.  Tie the other end to the starboard eye for the traveler. Now your hatch cover can never be lost. it will just dangle from the boat when you open the hatch. The hatch covers are clear and go missing oh so easily!
