RC DF-95 Care and Maintenance

Basic Care

The DF-95s are fairly tough, but should be handled carefully.

Ready to go Sailing

  • Tune rig for the conditions. See page on DF-95 tuning.
  • Make sure batteries are charged.
  • Make sure stern plug is inserted.
  • Tape control hatch with electrical tape. Start with aft side of the hatch and work forward (sides next and forward edge last).
  • Tighten backstay to your mark.
  • Turn on transmitter.
  • Turn on receiver (on the boat).
  • Launch boat and go sailing!

After Sailing

  • Turn off receiver (on boat).
  • Turn off transmitter (controller).
  • Rinse boat with fresh water. Salt water is very corrosive, especially to metal parts.
  • Drain boat
  • Release backstay to release rig tension, but not so much that rig falls out of the boat!
  • Open control hatch so interior can dry.
  • Even later:
    • Recharge batteries for next opportunity to sail!
    • once at home, I will ease the sheets too.
