For teams wanting additional practice opportunities, outside of the sessions provided on Thursday, May 30th and Friday, May 31st, we offer you.... THE BABY DRAGON!
 
"Baby Dragon" = 8 person dragon boat that is housed at Canal Dock all year. It is 1/2 the size of the dragon boats that will be raced at the regatta. However, form and technique for the paddlers is exactly the same!
More than 8 paddlers are allowed to attend. We can do laps and trade off at the dock. However, a minimum of 4 paddlers are requiredin order to move our baby dragon to the water.
Sessions are available Monday-Friday, 5:15pm - 6:15pm. Our staff is willing to work with a later time if requested; however, the session must end prior to sunset.
Each session will include 1hr of skill work provided by an experienced coach - race starts, power pushes, rhythm etc. Knowledge is power! Paddlers will leave more confident in their abilities, and hopefully, teams will become more unified through their paddles.
All necessary equipment will be provided by Canal Dock. Paddlers are welcome to bring their own Coast Guard approved PFD (life vest) if preferred.
Cost is $250 per practice session.
 
Our Baby Dragon is available for rent May-September. If you have a group interested, let us know! It is a fun, unique, and challenging activity for family and friends (9yo+) to come together as one to propel the dragon through the water. Contact tamara@canaldock.org for more information.
