John has been rowing and coaching since 1980 with championships won at every level, high school to international, as rower and coach. Most recently, John served as Head Coach of the Yale Heavyweight Men’s Crew from 2002 to 2010. He’s a World Champion from 1987, a two-time Olympian from 1988 & 1992, and Olympic coach from 2000.
John lives in New Haven, is an avid road cyclist, runner, and cross-country and downhill skier. He also owns and operates a bicycle touring business, Kingfisher Cycling, which guides cyclists in the French Pyréneés. John currently serves as President of Canal Dock Boathouse, Inc. He is available for private or group rowing lessons, and also heads up the growing public school program.
Nicole began rowing in 2004 at Dexter Southfield School and was recruited to row at Trinity College class of 2013. While at Trinity, Nicole participated in the NCAA Championships all four years, with her senior year boat placing second at NCAAs and winning the New England Championships. She was fortunate to participate at the Henley Women’s Regatta her senior year as well. Nicole was also the recipient of the Torch Award, which recognizes a teammate who fosters and perpetuates the spirit of Trinity Women’s Rowing.
Following her graduation from Trinity College, Nicole received her master’s degree at George Washington University in Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning. She enjoys running and hiking in her free time and coaches rowing and fitness at Miss Porter’s School.
